Commitment
Hypnotherapy relies on commitment and motivation from both the therapist and the client to achieve the best results. Please make sure that you are making an appointment because you want to and not for those around you such as your parents, partner or children who want you to make that change, it has to come from you.
Part of treatment occurs in the therapy room, but you may be asked to reflect or do tasks at home to support your treatment.
As a client, when you agree to undertake treatment, you also agree to engage with the process and complete any tasks given. With commitment you will achieve the best results.

Payment is by bank transfer in full 24 hours before your appointment unless agreed beforehand. Failure to pay before your appointment will result in the appointment being cancelled. in line with Newcastle Psychotherapy’s T&C’s
Appointments and Cancellation
You commit to attend the appointments that are made. Your attendance is part of your commitment to your treatment. Reasonable notice is at least 24 hours before your appointment. Not giving adequate notice may result in the full session fee being retained.
Arriving Late for an Appointment
If you are running late, please let me know as soon as possible. I will always endeavour to make a full session available, but this depends on other bookings and the extent to which you are late so cannot be guaranteed. If your session requires curtailing due to your late arrival, the full session fee may be still payable.
Confidentiality
All sessions are confidential. No information will be released without authorisation from yourselves except required by law. All data is held securely locked away following GDPR rules.
Exceptions to this are:
- Self-harm – I may need to contact either your named contact or your GP if it appears that you are suicidal or intending to carry out self-harm. This is for your protection.
- Safeguarding - I am legally required to report any form of abuse to the appropriate authorities should any such information be divulged to us.
Standards of behaviour
I undertake to treat you with respect and not to abuse the trust you put in us. I will use best practice at all times to work to our agreed mutual interest during your sessions. In return, you will undertake not to harm yourself or any other person, including your therapist or any of our property. You agree not to come to sessions under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs, except any medications prescribed by your doctor. If you are do attend under the influence of drugs, alcohol or demonstrate violent, abusive or threatening behaviour, I reserve the right to cancel the session without refund and may refuse any further sessions.
Please disclose any of the following as they are contraindications to having hypnotherapy
Severe Psychosis (e.g., schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder):
Dissociative Disorders (e.g., Dissociative Identity Disorder):
Severe Personality Disorders (e.g., Borderline Personality Disorder):
Severe Depression with suicidal ideation:
o Hypnotherapy is not a substitute for immediate crisis intervention or medical treatment.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in its acute stages:
o Hypnosis may overwhelm the individual if not handled carefully.
o Should only be done by a trauma-informed therapist.
Neurological and Physical Contraindications
Epilepsy
Cardiac Conditions
Severe Cognitive Impairment (e.g., dementia):
Chronic Pain Without Medical Evaluation:
o Pain could be a symptom of an undiagnosed condition requiring medical attention.
Medication and Substance Use

o Psychoactive drugs may interfere with hypnotic responsiveness or emotional regulation during sessions.
Realistic Expectations
Well- motivated clients who engage fully in the process and all tasks set are highly likely to achieve realistic goals. However, it is unethical to guarantee a cure. The control of behaviour, thoughts, feelings and emotions always resides with the client. No client is made to do anything against their will in hypnosis and you cannot get ‘stuck’ there. My office and online is a safe space for all clients. I guarantee to apply my training and expertise to your issues with the aim of achieving agreed goals within a reasonable time limit.

If I am younger than 18 years of age, I have the written consent of my parent/legal guardian/carer to receive therapy
I accept to be a willing participant in hypnosis and hypnotherapy sessions. I agree to the retention of such personal data as required to conduct sessions and understand this will not be shared without my written permission except under the circumstances stated for my own protection or as required by law and will be stored according to GDPR guidelines.

Personal Information you give us
You may give us information about yourself by filling in forms on our site https://www.northenskiestherapy.com (our site) or by submitting to us digital or physical questionnaires or by corresponding with us by phone, email or otherwise. Also information disclosed and matters discussed during any consultations or therapy.
Uses made of the personal information
Clients (those who have paid for services with us):
We use information held about you in the following ways:
· to carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and us relating to hypnotherapy consultations and to provide you with the information and services that you request from us. In other words to provide you with therapy and help you achieve your goals
· to generally improve the quality of our strategies and services for yourself and other clients. On occasion this may entail that anonymous information taken extracted from the notes or sessions will be invigilated by a professional hypnotherapy supervisor
· to provide you with information or guidance we think will be helpful to you
Enquiries (those who have contacted us and have not paid for services):
We use information to respond to enquiries, answering any questions and offering suggestions for treatment and booking appointments.
Our lawful basis to collect, process and hold data is by consent of the data subject. By submitting your personal data or contacting us, you agree and provide lawful consent to using your data in this way.
Disclosure of your information
We will not share your confidential personal identifiable information with any third parties unless we are instructed or permitted to do so by you or we are required to do so by law or in special cases, such as a physical threat to you or others. In the event that we are legally compelled to disclose your Personally Identifiable or Personal Health Information to a third party, we will attempt to notify you unless doing so would violate the law or court order. From time to time some of the information taken in the notes or sessions will be invigilated by a professional hypnotherapy supervisor. This information will not include any personal or identifying information and remains anonymous.
Where and how we store your personal data
Any personal identifiable data that we collect from will be stored under password protected encryption, via the Microsoft OneDrive web storage application.
In addition certain anonymous (non identifiable) data relating to your case history and treatment strategy may be stored on Dropbox without encryption. This data cannot be traced to your identity without the use of a separate Client List Key which will be stored under password protected encryption, on Microsoft OneDrive. The purpose of this data is to provide easy access to your case notes for use in planning or during treatment sessions while fulfilling our agreed commitment to you. This data may also be used to develop strategies and improve our services for other clients.
Our lawful basis to collect, process and hold data is by consent of the data subject. By submitting your personal data, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy.
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet and email is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to us; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.
Retention Period
Clients (those who have received paid for services with us):
All data may be stored indefinitely but will not be stored for a period of less than 8 years from the date of the client’s last visit or, if the client is a child, until his or her 25th birthday, or 26th birthday if the client was 17 when the treatment ended, for the following reasons:
· To provide continuity of service to clients who return for future treatments
· To fulfil legal obligations should case notes be required by a court of law
Enquiries (those who have contacted us and have not paid for services):
All personal identifiable and contact data to be stored for 1 year, allowing enquiry sufficient time to make a decision without pressure. If after the initial 12 months the enquiry does not become a client then the data will be erased within the next 12 months.
Your rights - access to information
The Act gives you the right to access information held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with the Act.
